Tuscany’s summer takes centre stage
In Tuscany, summer transforms villages, squares and natural landscapes into spectacular open-air stages. In Campiglia Marittima, the season begins with the Concerti della Pieve classical music series and reaches its liveliest moment in mid-August with Apritiborgo. Jugglers, acrobats, musicians and street performers fill the medieval streets, creating a truly unique atmosphere.
In Lajatico, the Teatro del Silenzio welcomes Andrea Bocelli and internationally renowned artists to a natural amphitheatre surrounded by rolling hills every July. Once the performances end, the landscape returns to silence, with full respect for the environment.
Between late July and early August, Livorno’s historic Venezia Nuova district also comes alive for Effetto Venezia. Concerts, performances and colourful installations light up its bridges, streets and navigable canals. You can also discover this charming district, known as a “little Venice”, by taking a scenic boat tour.
